About the company

#1 AAA Homecare Services is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and experienced caregiver to support a male client living in his own home in Southeast Calgary, near Willow Park.

Your tasks

The client has dementia, and his family is looking for someone who understands the unique challenges of dementia care. The ideal candidate will be confident in using de-escalation techniques, encouraging meaningful engagement, and creating a calm, positive, and stimulating environment.

• Provide compassionate, attentive care to a male client living with dementia.
• Use appropriate dementia care techniques to help manage challenging behaviours and de-escalate situations calmly and respectfully.
• Encourage mental stimulation, social interaction, and meaningful daily activities.
• Follow the family's instructions and established care routines carefully.
• Pay close attention to details and monitor the client's comfort, mood, and needs.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging home environment.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with the family regarding the client's care and any concerns.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with seniors, has a friendly and outgoing personality, and can provide attentive, respectful care while helping the client maintain his dignity and quality of life.

The following requirements are mandatory:

• Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA).
• Valid Health Care Aide (HCA) certificate.
• Current criminal record check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Professional references that can be contacted.
• Demonstrated experience providing dementia care.
• Knowledge of dementia-related behaviours and effective de-escalation strategies.

We are looking for someone who is

• Experienced: Comfortable supporting individuals living with dementia and responding appropriately to changing moods or behaviours.
• Energetic and engaging: Able to encourage participation in activities and provide positive social interaction.
• Detail-oriented: Attentive to instructions, routines, and the client's individual needs.
• Patient and calm: Able to remain composed and reassuring during difficult moments.
• Sociable and personable: Enjoys conversation, companionship, and building a trusting relationship with clients.
• Reliable and professional: Consistently punctual, dependable, and respectful of the family's expectations.

Candidates must be comfortable working independently in a private home and following the family's care instructions.

What we offer

Position Details

• Hourly rate: $20.00 per hour.
• Contract type: Independent contractor position.
• Location: Private residence in Southeast Calgary, near Willow Park.
• Schedule: Every Saturday and Sunday, with shifts scheduled between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 ? 12.0 per week
