Teaching Assistant 20%

Institutionen för informationsteknologi holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels. Today, we are Uppsala universitets third largest institution and have over 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 doctoral students. Are you interested in teaching and being part of an academic work environment? Do you want to gain experience working at a university? Institutionen för informationsteknologi is now seeking several teaching assistants at 20% for the spring of 2027.

20%-teaching assistants are teaching assistants employed for a full academic year. As a 20%-teaching assistant, you are employed by the institution and are part of the institution's operations. You will gain insight into the university's organization and participate in the daily work at one of the institution's departments. You will participate in and assist with teaching and administration of selected programs and courses at the institution, as well as activities organized by your department. As a teaching assistant at 20%, you will have access to staff facilities and a workspace, and you will also benefit from the university's many employment benefits, such as wellness grants and paid vacation days.

Work Tasks

Participation in teaching for courses at Institutionen för informationsteknologi. Participation in teaching includes, for example, participating in laboratories and lessons, grading assignments, answering students' questions, supervising student projects, or course development.

Qualification Requirements

Employment as a teaching assistant is regulated in Högskoleförordningen Chapter 5. Only those admitted to education at undergraduate or advanced level may be employed as a teaching assistant (HF Chapter 5 §10). The applicant must demonstrate good academic results, particularly in the area of the course/courses they will be assisting with, and very good knowledge of English in speech and writing.

Other Desirable/Meritorious Qualifications

Previous experience from participating in teaching in relevant courses at the university level is particularly meritorious. Experience with relevant IT-systems (Studium) as well as good knowledge of Uppsala universitets organization is desirable. Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing (applies only to courses taught in Swedish).

Application Procedure

The application must include a letter where the applicant briefly describes their experience in teaching, language, and knowledge (e.g., transcript of records). Also describe and motivate why you are interested in the position. The application may further contain information about which courses the applicant prefers to teach. Also attach your registration certificate.

Interviews are planned to be held from November 16th to 18th, 2026.

About the Employment

The employment is time-limited according to HF Chapter 5 § 12 until 2027-06-20. The scope is 20%. Commencement January 18, 2027, or by agreement. Location: Uppsala.
