The position is located at the interface between immunological research (Excellence Cluster ImmunoSensation) and the central laboratory of the Universitätsklinikum Bonn and is dedicated to special immunodiagnostics for the detection of immunodeficiencies, especially in pediatric patients. The special immunodiagnostics unit, under the joint scientific leadership of Prof. Kaan Boztug and Prof. Gunther Hartmann, includes general and special immunodiagnostic procedures to answer clinical-immunological questions. These include flow cytometry, as well as the isolation of primary immune cells, cell biological and molecular biological techniques, and single-cell and omics technologies. Since the unit was founded last year, we are looking for a committed and motivated person who actively helps shape processes, takes responsibility, and contributes ideas/impulses within the project.

  • Independent planning, execution, and evaluation of investigations with human sample material, as well as receipt, preparation, and maintenance of samples and professional documentation of these processes
  • Execution and establishment of cell biological, immunological, biochemical, and molecular biological methods, including flow cytometry (spectral)
  • Precise documentation, analysis, and presentation of results
  • Creation and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment (e.g., Sony ID7000)
  • Compliance with safety and quality standards, protocol management, and independent process and quality optimization
  • Expansion of your technical and theoretical skills to answer project-related questions
  • Organization and administration of laboratory operations and inventory management
  • Taking on organizational and administrative tasks in the laboratory

Your profile:

  • Completed training as a BTA, MTLA, or CTA (m/f/d) or a related natural science degree; professional experience is welcome
  • Experience in the areas of immunodiagnostics or routine diagnostics is desirable, particularly the following methods: flow cytometry, cell culture, cell biological and molecular biological procedures, RNA/DNA isolation, qPCR, ELISA/NulisaTM, omics technologies
  • Practical experience with flow cytometry and the analysis of flow cytometric data (in FlowJo) is particularly desirable
  • Basic immunological knowledge is a plus
  • Ability to work in a team and service orientation, as well as a structured and independent way of working
  • Motivation to drive and actively shape processes
  • Solid English and German skills required; the working language in the laboratory is English and the organizational/administrative work is carried out in German
