Turoni-Glitz / Vogt Research Group
Our working group is concerned with the optimization of cardiovascular implants and devices such as heart valves or coronary stents. The goal is to improve the biocompatibility and functionality of these systems and thus make a direct contribution to the further development of cardiovascular medicine.
A particular focus is placed on experimental in vitro models such as Chandler Loop and flow chamber systems, with which we generate important data on thrombogenicity, cell adhesion, and material compatibility. These results form the input for our partners in engineering and bioinformatics sciences, who develop in silico simulations (e.g., micromechanics, CFD, Physics-Informed Neural Networks) based on them.
Our research is integrated into national and international collaborative projects (DFG, BMBF, Horizon Europe) and thrives on close, transdisciplinary cooperation. In doing so, we investigate, among other things, various coatings as well as resorbable and non-resorbable materials.
The doctoral student carries out biological testing of cardiovascular implants in vitro and in vivo to test their biocompatibility and functionality and to provide experimental data for further development by partners.
