PURCHASING ENGINEER MANAGER

General objective of the position Lead and develop the purchasing strategy to ensure the timely supply of materials and components, optimizing costs, quality, inventories, and delivery times. Will be responsible for directing the purchasing team, strengthening relationships with suppliers, and working in a coordinated manner with areas such as Engineering, Planning, Quality, Production, and Finance.
Main requirements
- Bachelor's degree or Engineering in Industrial, Electronics, Supply Chain, Administration, or related.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain.
- Minimum 3 years in leadership or supervisory positions, preferably in electronic manufacturing.
- Experience in purchasing electronic components: PCB's, semiconductors, connectors, or other components.
- Knowledge of MRP and ERP systems, preferably SAP.
- Proficiency in Power BI for information analysis, indicators, and dashboards.
- B2 English for communication with suppliers and international teams.
- Experience in negotiation and supplier management.
- Ability to analyze indicators and make results-oriented decisions.
Main activities
- Design and execute purchasing strategies aligned with Supply Chain and business objectives.
- Lead, coordinate, and develop the purchasing team, following up on productivity, objectives, and indicators.
- Guarantee the timely supply of materials to maintain operational continuity.
- Manage and follow up with strategic suppliers, negotiations, commercial agreements, and performance.
- Monitor purchasing and supply KPIs such as PPV, OTIF, pending purchase orders, overdue deliveries, inventories, and supplier performance.
- Identify and address shortage risks, timely escalating critical situations that may affect production.
- Work together with Engineering, Planning, Quality, Production, and Finance to resolve supply incidents.
- Participate with Engineering and Program Management in new product projects, ensuring component supply during development stages.
- Analyze market trends and availability of electronic components to anticipate risks and opportunities.
- Follow up on inventory levels, surpluses, and optimization opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and audit requirements related to purchasing.
- Generate and analyze information through SAP/MRP, Excel, and Power BI to facilitate decision-making.
