RISE is an independent, state-owned research institute that offers unique expertise and around 100 test and demonstration environments to future-proof technologies, products, and services. www.ri.se.
Digitalization, the greenhouse effect, sustainability, and sharp international competition are examples of challenges facing Sweden and Swedish industry. RISE participates and contributes to solutions for these challenges through research and innovation in collaboration with other actors.
RISE samhällsbyggnad works, among other things, with stimulating the circular transition by creating value from secondary materials and efficient processes together with industry and society. The operations are broad and, in addition to research assignments, include various services primarily within evaluation and quality assurance. Areas that we specifically work with are biogas, food waste, material logistics, anaerobic bioprocesses, nutrient recovery, recycling of polymeric materials, and energy recovery.
Your role With a growing demand for our competence, we are now seeking reinforcement in the form of an engineer in the field of anaerobic bioprocesses. You will work in a driven team of experts in an inspiring and innovative environment. The work and competencies in the team span from experimental trials and experimental design to kinetics and process modeling. The work takes place close to the end-users, and the challenges are real-world and driven by both industry and society. Examples of areas the team works with today are biorefineries and treatment of mine water.
As an engineer in the team, you will work closely with the more senior team members. You will participate and contribute to various activities within projects and will develop your competence in the field. Your role will evolve over time, and you will be able to take greater responsibility in projects and project development. Since we operate close to the end-users and have projects and assignments both nationally and internationally, travel is a natural part of the position.
At RISE, we are driven by creativity, knowledge, and collaboration to achieve our goals. We are looking for you who is driven by challenges, is curious about the future, and wants to make a difference. RISE offers a workplace where you have great opportunities to influence what you want to work with and how you can develop and be motivated by finding new as well as improving existing business within the framework of our broad operations.
Your profile We are looking for you who has an engineering or civil engineering degree in biotechnology, chemical engineering, ecosystem technology, or equivalent. If you have a research degree, it is meritorious but not decisive. You are a recent graduate or have worked for one or a couple of years after graduation.
You should have an interest in working in projects involving biotechnological applications to convert waste into new products, as well as various water treatment applications. It is positive if you have experience and interest in modeling and simulation of processes and/or working in a lab.
Great importance will be placed on your personal qualities, where curiosity and openness are important. To succeed in the role, you also need to find it easy to communicate and collaborate with others while having the ability to work independently and not be afraid to take your own initiative if necessary. We expect you to be structured, responsible, and used to working towards deadlines.
The position offers great opportunities to develop professionally and to be involved in the development of new services and methods both internally and externally. That you are proficient in English, both spoken and written, is a given to us, but you should also master Swedish or have a strong drive to learn it, as we work in many national projects.
The position is located in Lund or Borås.
