For our corporate legal department, we are looking for an experienced fully qualified lawyer / in-house counsel with a focus on real estate law, who will take on a central role in the legal support of our national and international store expansion in the future. The position is designed for the long term for the structured handover of an established area of responsibility.

THIS IS YOUR AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

The corporate legal department advises the management and specialist departments of NEW YORKER on demanding legal issues in a national and international context. In this function, you will particularly undertake:

• Legal support of store expansion, especially the examination, drafting, and negotiation of commercial lease agreements for store locations at home and abroad
• Advising the Expansion, Construction, and Real Estate Management departments on all real estate law issues
• Legal examination, drafting, and support of contract negotiations
• Legal support of projects, especially in construction and real estate law
• Development of practical legal solutions, both independently and in a team
• Enforcement of claims as well as defense against unjustified claims
• Legal support particularly for existing lease relationships, especially in cases of contract disturbances and needs for adjustment
• Preparation of legal opinions and statements
• Collaboration in the further development of contract templates and standards
• Legal examination of templates from the relevant Business Units to the management
• Legal advice and training of employees in the specialist departments

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

• Fully qualified lawyer with successfully passed first and second legal state examinations, at least with a grade of "befriedigend" (satisfactory)
• Several years of relevant professional experience in real estate law, ideally in the area of commercial leases / Retail
• Sound experience in the drafting and negotiation of commercial lease agreements
• Business fluent English skills in speaking and writing
• Strong understanding of economic contexts as well as the ability to clearly structure complex facts
• Goal orientation, commitment, and a high degree of initiative
• Strong communication and assertiveness skills

The position is aimed at experienced lawyers with corresponding professional practice; recruitment of entry-level professionals is not intended.
