Research Infrastructure Specialist in AI/ML

Description of the workplace
LUNARC is a center at Lund University that provides services in high-performance computing (HPC), visualization, and data storage. We support researchers across the entire university with advanced infrastructure, expertise, and training.
The position is part of a national initiative on AI within Swedish AI Factory, the Swedish node in the EuroHPC AI Factory initiative. In this role, you will work at the intersection of advanced AI research, research infrastructure, and education, in close collaboration with national and international partners.
Tasks
As a Research Infrastructure Specialist in AI/ML, you will play an important role in strengthening the use of AI in Swedish research, with a particular focus on education and skills development.
Your tasks will include, among others:
- Develop and implement educational initiatives in AI/ML, such as courses, workshops, and seminars, for researchers and users at LU and Swedish AI Factory.
- Contribute to the development of educational materials and long-term educational initiatives in AI.
- Support researchers in the application of AI methods using resources at LU, Swedish AI Factory, and NAISS.
- Contribute to the development and optimization of AI workflows on HPC infrastructure.
- Participate in national and international collaborations within Swedish AI Factory and EuroHPC.
- Contribute to outreach activities and knowledge dissemination within AI and its applications.
Qualifications
Requirements
- A doctoral degree in a relevant field, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science, or computational science, or in another field that the employer deems relevant for the position.
- Documented experience in using and developing AI tools and AI models.
- Practical experience with modern AI frameworks, such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent.
- Good programming skills in Python and experience working in Linux/Unix environments.
- Documented experience in teaching, training, or course development.
- Ability to work both independently and together with researchers and research groups.
- Very good ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
Meritorious
- Experience in developing and implementing courses or training programs in AI/ML.
- Experience working with research infrastructure, for example HPC, large-scale data storage, or distributed systems.
- Experience supporting users or researchers in AI-related projects.
- Experience with international collaborations, for example within EU or EuroHPC projects.
- Experience collaborating with industry or public organizations.
- Experience with generative AI and large language models.
Other information
The employment is permanent and full-time (100 percent). Start date by agreement, but no later than April 2027. The position is located in Lund.
