Workshop Technician

About the department/group

The position is located at the department of tillämpad termodynamik och kylteknik within the department of Energiteknik. The work is carried out in a creative and dynamic environment, which involves close cooperation with many industry partners, other technical staff, lab manager, researchers, doctoral students, and students. The department is globally known for research in the field of heat pumps and cooling systems.

Tasks

The tasks primarily involve supporting our laboratory and experimental activities. The position includes the following tasks and areas of responsibility:

Mechanical manufacturing (lathe, milling, welding, brazing, etc.). Construction of prototypes and lab rigs, commissioning, and technical support. Design support in experimental research and education projects in consultation with researchers and doctoral students (including assessment of manufacturing documentation for external manufacturing). Procurement management / support. Participating in the development of risk analyses. Fire safety officer (training provided by the employer), chemical safety officer in collaboration with colleagues. Service and maintenance of the lab and workshop infrastructure.

Qualifications

Requirements

Minimum high school competence in mechanics or equivalent. Basic knowledge of 3-phase electricity. Basic knowledge of English as it is required in daily work. Experience with cooling and heat pump systems (kylteknik).

Personal qualities

We are looking for someone who is generally practical and handy with an interest in energy-related issues. In your professional role, you are creative and flexible with good collaborative skills and an aptitude for working independently in a dynamic work environment.

Meritorious

Work experience in electricity/electronics. Experience in prototype building.
