We welcome applications for a postdoctoral position at the Department of Communication Systems at KTH. The position is linked to the large European research initiative RAI-6Green and the Swedish center SWE-WIN (Swedish Wireless Innovation Network), which aims to develop resilient, robust, and energy-efficient wireless networks that can support new services. The research focuses on resource management and orchestration as well as leveraging new technologies such as integrated sensing and communication (ISAC). These initiatives bring together leading academic, industrial, and public partners to develop innovative solutions for future communication systems and new sensing-based services.

Tasks

The successful candidate will contribute to research in energy-efficient network design, optimization, and orchestration across various components in the network, as well as to the development of sensing algorithms and ISAC solutions. The postdoc will also play a central role in coordinating research activities within the group, leading joint activities in international projects, publishing research results in leading journals and conferences, as well as supervising master's students and serving as a co-supervisor for doctoral students.

The research is conducted in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, with close cooperation with major industry and research partners (e.g., Ericsson, Tele2, RISE, etc.) as well as other European companies and research centers. The position offers excellent opportunities for high-impact research publications, contributions to demonstrators and standardization activities, and professional development in both academia and industry.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A completed doctoral degree or a foreign degree assessed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Applicants must have a doctoral degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field, with strong research merits in wireless communication, networks, or optimization.
  • Good collaborative skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Publications in high-quality journals or conferences (preferably at IEEE Transactions level) within relevant subject areas.

Applicants are expected to have a strong background in at least one of the following areas:

  • Integrated sensing and communication
  • Cell-free massive MIMO, beamforming, and MIMO algorithms
  • Joint optimization of communication and computing resources

Meritorious

  • At the time of the application deadline, no more than three years have passed since the doctoral degree or a foreign degree assessed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree was obtained.
  • Experience with simulation frameworks, system-level evaluation, or machine learning is highly meritorious.
  • Very good communication and writing skills in English, as required in daily work.
  • Documented ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with others in interdisciplinary and international environments.
  • Experience in supervising master's students or doctoral students is meritorious.
