PhD Student in Underwater Robotics
Project Description
Research education subject: Computer Science
The main goal is to prove the concept of multimodality, multiple vehicles, localization, and change detection in the scenario of collaborative autonomous underwater vehicles, i.e., autonomous detection of changes on the seabed, using multiple autonomous vehicles that map the area and build a detailed 3D model using multimodal sensing over time.
This project will work closely with the other students at the Swedish Maritime Robotics Centre, SmaRC. It will include multi-agent navigation in GPS-denied environments, collaborative perception, and machine learning. Experiments will be conducted on autonomous underwater vehicles and sonar sensors provided by SmaRC and the marine robotics laboratory, MRL.
Supervision: John Folkesson is proposed to supervise the doctoral student. Decision is made upon admission.
