Do you want to use your welding skills to renovate old ships, perform complex repairs, or even completely transform existing vessels? Then we have the perfect job for you!

Who are we Royal Niestern Sander is a versatile, powerful, and innovative shipyard. We design, build, and repair ships and specialize in (often complex) customer-oriented ship conversions. We are located in Farmsum and Delfzijl and have proudly been part of the Wagenborg-groep since 2008. Our facilities include various production halls for new construction, a ship slipway, and two dry docks (outside the dikes) for ship repairs. We also have our own machine workshop for metal parts. With more than 120 years of knowledge and experience, Royal Niestern Sander is considered one of the best shipyards in the north of the Netherlands. Approximately 160 employees work with permanent contracts, all of whom fall under the collective labor agreement for the metal and electrical engineering industry.

What will you do? You are responsible for welding activities in our dock and our shipyard and work on a wide variety of ships. Together with your colleagues, you ensure that every ship is back in operation quickly and in top condition. One week you might be working on a five-year maintenance project, and the next week you are repairing a dent in the bow. You also contribute to large and complex projects. Take the Rotra Mare, for example: this vessel came to our dock to be extended by eleven meters. First, we built an entirely new section. To install this, we split the existing ship in two in our floating dock. After towing the bow away, we placed the new section and adapted it to the rear part of the ship. Subsequently, we lowered the dock again to reattach the bow. As you can imagine, this project involved a lot of welding work!
