The Port Services team specializes in providing advanced equipment, software, and maintenance solutions for the handling and lifting of port containers, optimizing operations in ports throughout the country.
We are looking for an Automation Specialist – PLC to join our team in Las Palmas. This key position focuses on the design, programming, commissioning, and maintenance of industrial automation systems, especially in the port environment. The ideal candidate will have practical experience with PLCs, TIA Portal, HMI, and control systems, and will actively contribute to the continuous improvement of our technical processes. Your main responsibilities will include: Programming, configuring, and maintaining PLC-based automation systems. Diagnosing and resolving faults in control and automation systems. Participating in the commissioning of new equipment and updates to existing systems. Collaborating with engineering and R&D teams to implement technical improvements. Documenting processes, modifications, and test results. Training the technical team in the use and maintenance of automated systems. Coordinating with customers and suppliers to ensure the correct integration of solutions. Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
Essential qualifications and requirements: Essential qualifications: Technical training in automation, electrical engineering, industrial electronics, or similar. Demonstrable experience in PLC programming (Siemens, Schneider, Allen-Bradley, etc.). Knowledge of HMI, SCADA systems, and industrial networks. Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems. Good communication and teamwork skills. Medium-high level of English (other languages will be positively valued). Valid driver's license. Availability to travel and work in the field as required by the position. Commitment to safety protocols. Desirable qualifications: Experience in the automation of port cranes or lifting machinery. Knowledge in sensor integration, frequency drives, and distributed control systems. Experience in R&D or continuous improvement environments. Please note: The position combines technical field work with system development and improvement tasks. The ability to work in demanding physical conditions and dynamic port environments is required. Overtime will be appropriately compensated.
