Associate Professor in Design

The Department of Design at Textilhögskolan offers undergraduate and advanced levels in fashion design, textile design, textile interaction design, and performance wear. The department also conducts artistic research education within design. Based on experimental methodology, the department teaches and explores textiles, fashion, and clothing in a broad sense, including through body-based expressions and functions, material innovation, textile art, digital tools and processes, textile interaction, social sustainability, and cultural development through design. Design research within textiles and garments is conducted through two main research programs: ArcInTex and Body and Space.
Your duties
As an Associate Professor, you will teach and supervise design at undergraduate and advanced levels, as well as participate in research education in textile and fashion design. Particular focus is placed on artistic education and the artistic research connection of education within textiles, clothing, and fashion, both theoretically and practically.
Your duties include conducting artistic research and development in and for the research and education environment, also through course and program development. You will also participate in the department's collaboration with adjacent textile education areas at the university and with adjacent art and design areas nationally and internationally. You will also work towards increased diversification and internationalization of the design programs.
Your qualifications
For the position, the following are required:
completed artistic doctorate demonstrated artistic skill, or equivalent professional skill that is significant with regard to the subject matter of the position and the duties to be included in the employment demonstrated pedagogical skill documented advanced knowledge and skills in artistic practices and design methods documented advanced knowledge and skills in experimental artistic design research knowledge and understanding of, as well as practical experience in 3D design within art and design good ability to communicate in writing and orally in English
You also need to have a good ability to cooperate, work independently and structured, as well as be able to prioritize tasks.
A general eligibility requirement for permanent employment as a teacher is completed higher education pedagogical training equivalent to 10 weeks of full-time studies, or equivalent competence. An employee who lacks higher education pedagogical training shall undergo the training during the first two years of employment.
Meritorious:
Experience of publishing artistic research results in relevant exhibitions, journals, conferences, or equivalent. Teaching experience within the field of textile and fashion design. Experience of teaching administration within design. Experience of applications for research funding as well as participation in larger research projects. International network within education and research.
