A position for a
research associate (pay group E13 TV-L) (m/f/d)
(full-time, currently 39.8 hours per week) is to be filled immediately at the II. Physikalisches Institut. The employment is initially for a duration of two years. An extension is intended. The position is suitable for part-time work.
The activity takes place in the experimental particle physics working group of the Universität Göttingen in High-Performance and Grid Computing. The focus is on the development and optimization of operation and monitoring tools using modern machine learning techniques for the operation of the local Grid-Cluster GoeGrid as well as for the Tier-1 center GridKa and the associated Tier-2 centers involved in the ATLAS-Experiment within the framework of the World-Wide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG). Furthermore, techniques for using federated infrastructure for new compute models of the future High-Lumi LHC are to be developed, particularly using the resources of the NHR@Goettingen Cluster.
The successful candidate is expected to participate in the supervision of students, the operation of the GoeGrid Cluster in Göttingen, and the research activities of the participating groups. The group has experience in the operation and monitoring of computer clusters, Grid resources within the framework of WLCG, as well as in the development and use of machine learning algorithms.
The prerequisite for employment is a completed scientific university degree in the subject of Physics or in another relevant field (Diplom or Master) and a doctorate in Physics or in Computer Science. English skills, software and programming skills in modern programming and scripting languages, experience in system administration and Grid Computing are expected. German skills as well as prior knowledge in Experimental Particle Physics are desirable.
