The MKS group (Machine - Cryogenics - Superconductivity) is responsible for the construction and operation of the helium cryogenic supply for superconducting accelerator components at DESY in Hamburg. The tasks of the MKS group include, in particular, the operation of the existing helium cryogenic plants with accelerators and test facilities, as well as the design, development, and construction of new cryogenic assemblies.
What we need your support for:
- Controlling and monitoring (Operating) the operation of the helium cryogenic plants for XFEL and FLASH using a modern process control system in shift service
- In a diverse field of work, driving the cryogenic plants and test fields into the desired operating modes, assessing operating data, and reacting to deviations to ensure operation
- Supporting our team in carrying out maintenance, repair, and renewal work on plants, machines, and accelerator components
What distinguishes you:
- Completed vocational training in a craft from the fields of metal processing, electrical engineering, electronics, or mechatronics, or equivalent specialist knowledge, skills, and experience
- Good knowledge in metal processing, electrical engineering, electronics, or mechatronics
- Experience in the operation of large machines/plants
- Knowledge in cryogenics, thermodynamics, or vacuum technology is desirable
- Willingness to participate in shift and on-call duty
- English language skills in speaking and writing
- Good communication and teamwork skills as well as an independent way of working
