Agile development comprises five groups, which in turn consist of several teams. Within these, analysts, application and BI developers, Product Owners, and testers work. Whether it is developments for merchandise management, logistics, points of sale, the online shop, the ROSSMANN App, or other internal departments – the goal is to provide innovative and efficient solutions that meet modern technological requirements. What you will achieve with us

• As an experienced developer, you will design and develop central backend and service applications for our checkout systems in national and international branches
• Together with the agile team, you will design and implement robust, scalable, and high-performance services for the POS environment — with a focus on stability, maintainability, and reliable branch operations
• In close cooperation with Product Owners, the operations team, Enterprise Architecture, and other interfaces, you will translate retail business requirements into viable technical solutions
• You will take on a central role in the further development of our software architecture in the checkout environment and actively contribute your experience to architectural decisions, technical standards, and best practices
• You will accompany software solutions throughout the entire development cycle — from analysis, conception, and design to implementation, testing, and code reviews, through to deployment, monitoring, and operations
• You will support the team with technical planning, effort estimation, and the evaluation of solution options
• As an experienced developer, you will take responsibility for quality, technical sustainability, and knowledge transfer within the team — for example, through reviews, pairing, or providing technical support to less experienced colleagues

What you bring with you

• You have at least 5 years of practical experience in software development in the field of checkout software, branch systems, retail IT, or comparable transaction-related applications
• You possess very good knowledge in development with Java as well as modern frameworks such as Quarkus or Spring Boot
• You bring experience in the conception and implementation of backend services, APIs, and service-oriented architectures
• Confident handling of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, as well as the modeling of high-performance and maintainable data structures are part of your profile
• You bring a good understanding of stable, operationally secure software — especially with regard to performance, error robustness, monitoring, logging, and maintainability
• You have practical experience with agile working methods, ideally in a Scrum environment, and enjoy working in cross-functional teams
• You actively contribute to technical discussions, make well-founded decisions, and combine independent work with a strong team orientation
• Knowledge in the area of CI/CD, for example with GitLab, as well as experience with container and cloud technologies such as Kubernetes or the Google Cloud Platform are an advantage
• Experience with high-availability or offline-capable systems in a branch or retail environment
• Confident English skills in speaking and writing round off your profile
