At the earliest possible date, we are looking for a Senior Camera System Design Engineer (m/f/d) in Weimar.
The Senior Camera System Design Engineer plays a crucial role at DESAY SV Europe by driving the improvement of the team's optical expertise to support the expansion and breakthrough of camera products in new markets. As an important interface between customers and the R&D team of the DESAY SV headquarters, this position requires comprehensive technical knowledge. The role contributes to the acquisition of new projects, ensures the quality of project development and delivery, and works to build and strengthen technical trust with European OEMs.
What to expect
- Supporting the headquarters' Research and Development department in developing competitive architecture solutions for automotive camera products
- Analysis of customer inquiries (RFI/RFQ), clarification of requirements, and translating these into technical core points that must be met
- Leading or participating in the creation of system architecture designs, coordinating with the research and development teams to finalize solutions that meet the technical requirements of customers
- Reviewing designs for technical feasibility and competitiveness
- Presenting technical addenda (TA) on-site at the OEM, advocating for optimal solutions for customers, and negotiating technical deviations if necessary
- Answering customer inquiries during technology evaluation, providing timely and professional support and assistance during feasibility assessments
- Monitoring/understanding the progress of technical issues in camera development projects
- Observing industry trends, collecting and researching new technology requirements for the EU region, and contributing technical insights to the planning of the technical roadmap
- Staying up to date on technological development trends in the camera industry, including new technologies and directions in key components and manufacturing processes such as optical lenses, CMOS sensors, ISPs, and SerDes
What you bring with you
- At least 5 years of practical experience in the technical development of camera systems for motor vehicles (e.g., ADAS, Surround-View, driver monitoring)
- Master's degree or higher in optics, physics, electrical engineering, or a directly related field
Technical expertise:
- Sound knowledge of the functioning, selection criteria, and interface design of core camera modules (image sensor, lens, SerDes, power management, LED/flash)
- Sound knowledge of image quality metrics for cameras, reliability testing protocols, and industry standards (including thermal drift analysis and MTF durability)
- Sound knowledge of intrinsic camera calibration processes and the principles of triangulation-based distance measurement
- Familiarity with ISO 26262 and its application to ADAS products

- Strong systematic thinking and interest in solving complex, interdisciplinary technical challenges
- Quick comprehension, resilience, energy, curiosity, and openness
- Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to present complex technical concepts clearly
- Fluent English (mandatory), German language skills are an advantage
