We have a Medical Advisor position to fill within our Medical Affairs team. This is a national position and the incumbent will work in Montreal. They will report to the Therapeutic Area Lead, Multiple Myeloma. As a Medical Advisor, you will provide medical and scientific support to the Clinical Research Department and participate in Clinical Operations activities. The Medical Advisor develops strategic plans that go hand in hand with the brand plan and collaborates with various groups within the company. Main responsibilities: Develop a medical strategy within the brand team and implement this strategy in accordance with what has been defined in the brand plan. Support feasibility, site mapping, determination and participation in clinical studies, and provide support by resolving all outstanding issues related to study sites. Review new clinical study protocols and research proposals undertaken by researchers. Maintain relationships with Abbott Canada commercial groups, global project teams, researchers, and external experts by regularly reviewing ongoing initiatives and the tactical implementation of action plans. Provide scientific and medical support within the framework of ongoing projects. Monitor and review scientific documentation on AbbVie products and the competition. Serve as the scientific affairs expert for the product. Serve as a link between Medical Affairs and commercial groups based on their respective therapeutic areas. Ensure regulatory compliance in all studies undertaken. Manage and allocate resources diligently, ensuring that all projects are conducted within approved budgets and that expected results are delivered. Support the integration of new products into the AbbVie portfolio. Develop the data generation plan based on identified gaps.
Required education or experience: Degree in medicine, PhD, or undergraduate pharmacy degree required. Relevant experience coupled with solid knowledge of the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry. General knowledge of drug development and clinical research in a relevant therapeutic area (minimum of two to five years). Experience in Multiple Myeloma (minimum of two to three years). Scientific experience in a function dealing directly with clients in the healthcare industry.
Ability to prepare and deliver high-quality presentations and (or) interpret scientific publications or clinical research. Ability to think and plan strategically (work plans, activities, schedules, targeting) and to function with excellence in execution. Solid knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment and the role of the Medical Affairs Department in pursuing the medical and scientific objectives of a pharmaceutical company. Knowledge of all aspects of drug development and local regulations, including regulations regarding promotional material. Essential skills and abilities: Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.). Comfortable with technology (use of different tools/AI/systems to perform daily tasks). Ability to travel at least 20 to 30% of the time. Valid driver's license and passport. Key leadership skills: In-depth knowledge and execution of meaningful strategies and data-driven business decisions. Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills to define priorities, monitor progress toward goals, and track data, information, and activities. Effectively manage budgets to meet financial commitments. Demonstrate sound business judgment (having a senior leader mindset to evaluate the local market and establish directions). Ability to anticipate potential outcomes from both a customer and competitor perspective. Knowledge of AbbVie's therapeutic areas and products to coach team members who have scientific interactions with key stakeholders, external experts, and medical associations. Communicate and collaborate effectively with other team members to ensure alignment of plans. Demonstrate organizational and analytical skills. Foster teamwork by working collaboratively and effectively with others to solve problems and make decisions that increase organizational efficiency. Make decisions autonomously and with appropriate information. Use feedback constructively and take others' viewpoints into consideration.
