A University Teacher or University Lecturer in the field of Design and Manufacturing Technology
The position is sought for a person who has diverse experience in the industrial manufacturing of designed products as well as a strong interest in training the designers of the future.
Your role and goals
Your task is to teach how design concepts are developed into prototypes that can be manufactured industrially, utilizing both traditional and new technologies. Teaching topics include, among others:
Manufacturing techniques essential for product design, such as making a mass-produced injection-molded plastic product production-ready
CAD and CAM software in an industrial/professional context
Basics of prototyping, including model making.
In addition to teaching, the duties typically include participating in the development of teaching, design activities, and research at the Department of Design. You will also participate in the supervision and assessment of students' assignments and theses, as well as the selection of new students if necessary.

Lecturers and professors of the Department of Design
Students of the Bachelor's Programme in Design and Fashion, whose major is design. The languages of the programme are Finnish and Swedish, but teaching is possible in English
Students of the Bachelor's Programme in Design and Media. The language of the programme is English
Students of the Master's Programme in Design. The languages of the programme are English, Finnish, and Swedish

Requirements/What we expect from you The ideal candidate for this position has:
Extensive experience in collaboration with designers, understanding design purposes, and bringing them to fruition
An interest in combining industrial practices with design education (e.g., by bringing design projects and industrial partners to courses)
The ability to teach industrial-scale manufacturing processes as well as one-off prototyping skills
Expertise in digital manufacturing and its utilization in collaboration with digital modeling teachers
Own experience in designing and developing teaching
The prerequisites for the position are:
A master's degree in design or a relevant field
Documented evidence of practical design work in an industrial or other manufacturing environment
A strong interest in teaching practical skills to design students and supervising theses
Excellent English language skills
The following merits are considered an advantage:
Experience in university-level teaching
Proficiency in Finnish and/or Swedish
Research merits and other merits related to the field of the position
Documented pedagogical training
