Are you an experienced Compliance Team Leader with a background in Facilities Management or Property Management? We're working with a highly respected organisation within the commercial property and facilities management sector, who are looking for an experienced Compliance Team Leader to join their team in Stoke-on-Trent. This is an important role within the business, responsible for overseeing day-to-day compliance operations across a varied client portfolio, ensuring statutory and regulatory requirements are met while delivering against agreed service levels and KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Client Service Desk Manager, you'll lead a team of Compliance Administrators while also taking ownership of compliance documentation, reporting, systems and client requirements. You'll be a key point of contact for compliance administration, working closely with internal teams, operational managers, suppliers, contractors and clients to identify risks, resolve issues and continually improve service delivery. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, motivating and developing a team of Compliance Administrators
  • Allocating workloads and monitoring performance against agreed objectives and KPIs
  • Conducting regular 1-to-1s, team meetings and performance reviews
  • Providing coaching, training and support to improve team capability and consistency
  • Managing escalations and client complaints professionally and effectively
  • Overseeing statutory and regulatory compliance across the client portfolio
  • Reviewing compliance certificates and documentation for validity and accuracy
  • Identifying remedial actions and ensuring these are followed through to completion
  • Monitoring compliance performance against client SLAs and KPIs
  • Maintaining accurate compliance records and ensuring documentation is kept up to date
  • Identifying and escalating areas of risk or potential financial exposure
  • Keeping the team informed of changes to compliance requirements and priorities
  • Building strong working relationships with clients, operational managers, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Producing regular compliance reports and management information
  • Conducting internal audits and maintaining issue logs to identify trends and performance concerns
  • Investigating escalations and complaints and addressing underlying issues
  • Managing the compliance mailbox and ensuring requests are dealt with within agreed timescales
  • Carrying out regular system audits and correcting documentation where required
  • Supporting the ongoing development of compliance systems, processes and best practice
  • Producing compliance status reports and supporting monthly client reporting
  • Creating and maintaining training and best-practice materials

Desired Skills and Experience

We're looking for an experienced compliance professional who is equally comfortable leading people, managing risk and dealing with clients . You'll need to be highly organised and detail-focused, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ideally, you'll have:

  • Previous experience in a Compliance Team Leader or Compliance Leadership role
  • Experience working within Facilities Management, Property Management or a similar environment
  • A strong understanding of statutory compliance requirements
  • Experience managing and developing an administrative team
  • Strong knowledge of FM compliance and H&S legislation
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong analytical and reporting abilities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • The ability to prioritise effectively and work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and ideally experience with CAFM and reporting systems
  • A proactive approach to identifying risks and improving processes

An IOSH qualification would be desirable , as would experience working with compliance within a large property or facilities management portfolio.
