Speech and Language Therapist - SEND School

Location: London/Greenwich Salary: Competitive, dependent on qualifications and experience Contract: Full Time

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech and Language Therapist to join a specialist education setting supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping pupils develop their communication, language, and social interaction skills, enabling them to access learning and achieve their full potential.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

• Assess pupils' speech, language, communication, and swallowing needs where appropriate.
• Develop and implement individualised speech and language therapy programmes and interventions.
• Support pupils in developing expressive and receptive language, social communication, speech clarity, and functional communication skills.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents, and external professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
• Provide guidance and training to staff on communication strategies, interventions, and classroom adaptations.
• Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate clinical records, reports, and therapy plans.
• Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and annual reviews where required.
• Recommend and support the use of communication aids, visual supports, and Assistive Technology where appropriate.
• Promote a holistic and pupil-centred approach to communication, learning, and wellbeing.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
• Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) is desirable.
• Experience working with children and young people, preferably within a SEND or educational setting.
• Strong understanding of speech, language, communication, and social interaction needs.
• Knowledge of a range of therapeutic approaches and interventions for children with SEND.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience contributing to EHCPs and working collaboratively with families and professionals is desirable.
