Haematology or Transfusion BMS Required in Yorkshire

Banding: Band 6 Location: Yorkshire Start Date: ASAP Duration: Ongoing Working Pattern: Core hours or 24/7 shift pattern (depending on department) Hourly Rate: £25–£28

We are currently seeking a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist with experience in either Haematology (Morphology) or Transfusion Science (Grifols platform) to join our client’s busy and well-established laboratory service in Yorkshire . This is a full-time, ongoing position offering flexibility in working patterns and a competitive hourly rate.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on your specialism, you will be involved in:

Haematology (Morphology):

Performing full blood counts, coagulation studies, and detailed blood film morphology

Ensuring accurate analysis and interpretation of results

Maintaining quality control and contributing to clinical decision-making

Transfusion (24/7 Shift):

Conducting blood grouping, antibody screening, and compatibility testing

Managing urgent transfusion requests in a high-pressure environment

Operating Grifols platforms (e.g., Erytra, DG Gel) and ensuring compliance with UKAS/MHRA standards

Qualifications and Experience

HCPC registration

Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent

Proven experience in either Haematology (with morphology) or Transfusion Science

Familiarity with relevant analysers Siemens in Haematology or Grifols in Transfusion

Experience with Winpath LIMS

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

NHS experience (preferred)
