Unix Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Provide L3 support for enterprise UNIX platforms, including IBM AIX and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) .
• Perform UNIX server migrations, OS upgrades, hardware refresh, data center migrations, and technology modernization.
• Administer IBM PowerVM, LPAR, VIOS, HMC, NPIV, and SEA .
• Manage AIX Live Partition Mobility (LPM), NIM, mksysb, alt_disk_copy , and system recovery.
• Configure and troubleshoot PowerHA, clustering, failover, and disaster recovery .
• Manage SAN storage, LVM, JFS2, XFS, NFS, multipathing, and file system migrations.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, performance tuning, capacity management, and root-cause analysis.
• Develop automation scripts using Shell, KSH, Bash, Python, and Ansible .

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in IBM AIX / UNIX L3 administration .
• Proven experience in UNIX server migration, OS upgrades, and technology refresh .
• Advanced knowledge of PowerVM, VIOS, LPAR, HMC, NIM, and PowerHA .
• Strong understanding of SAN, LVM, storage migration, clustering, and disaster recovery .
• Proficiency in troubleshooting tools: nmon, topas, vmstat, iostat, sar, errpt, and tcpdump .
• Strong scripting capabilities in Shell/Bash/KSH, Python, and Ansible .
• Experience with ServiceNow, Splunk, Dynatrace, Nagios, IBM Storage Protect, or Veritas NetBackup .
