DESCRIPTION: The Forklift Mechanic’s main responsibility is to evaluate and repair all mobile equipment and forklifts at the plant.  This candidate must be able to inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain all makes and models of material handling equipment. The other responsibilities would be to communicate to management what parts are needed and call those orders in so the equipment can be repaired.   COMPETENCIES: ·      Customer Focus ·      Drives Results ·      Collaborates ·      Communicates Effectively   ·                        WORKING CONDITIONS: · REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to interpret blueprints required. Ability to read a tape measure required. Certifications or prior experience using moving machinery, such as forklifts, required. 2+ years of prior industrial maintenance experience required. Hydraulic and electrical background experience required. Regular, and reliable attendance is required. RESPONSIBILITIES Can troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and provide corrective action. · Disassembles forklifts prior to maintenance work. · Reassembles forklifts after the completion of repair or maintenance work. · Starts forklifts and observes mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems. · Inspects or tests damaged forklifts, and marks defective areas or advises supervisors of repair needs. · Lubricates or applies adhesives or other materials to forklifts, according to specified procedures. · Dismantles forklifts and removes parts for repair, using specified tools. · Records production, repair, and forklift maintenance information. · Reads work orders and specifications to determine forklifts and other material handling equipment, requiring repair or maintenance. · Ability to repair tools and small engines. · Holds a working knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems. · Performs scheduled preventative maintenance. WORKING CONDITIONS The Forklift Mechanic will have no required travel. · The Forklift Mechanic may be required to work overtime as needed. · Lifting Requirements: The Forklift Mechanic will be required to lift, slide, push, pull, or otherwise manipulate up to fifty pounds by hand. Any objects or materials over this weight limit will require manipulation by crane or other device.
