An excellent opportunity has arisen for a qualified accountant to join an established and growing organisation as Financial Controller. This is a broad, hands on role offering the opportunity to take ownership of key financial processes, maintain robust controls and provide valuable financial insight to support business performance.

Working closely with the Finance Director, you will play an important role in overseeing the day to day financial operations and managing the team, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, strengthening processes and supporting effective financial planning across the business.

Oversee the preparation and review of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reporting. Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are accurate, complete and reviewed, investigating and resolving any variances. Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning processes. Maintain and enhance financial controls, policies and procedures. Oversee statutory accounts preparation, VAT returns and corporation tax requirements. Manage the external audit process, acting as a key point of contact for auditors. Monitor working capital, cash flow and treasury activities to support effective financial management. Provide meaningful financial analysis and insight to support decision-making and business performance. Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, systems and reporting. Support, mentor and oversee the work of junior members of the finance team. Play an active role in finance transformation, automation and continuous improvement projects.

You will be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, with strong financial and management accounting experience and the ability to operate confidently in a Financial Controller position. You will have excellent Excel skills, a sound understanding of financial controls and reporting, and experience across budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.

We are looking for someone who is commercially aware, analytical and proactive, with the confidence to challenge existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement and add value beyond the numbers. You will be comfortable working closely with senior stakeholders, taking ownership of your responsibilities and balancing attention to detail with a wider understanding of business performance.
