Teqniq is searching for a Bridge Inspector to work in the public sector.

37 hours per week. 3 month contract. 09:00-17:00

Job Description:

To carry out General, Special and Monitoring inspections of Highway Structures such as bridges, retaining walls, rural footbridges and high mast lighting columns, for structural defects.

A fundamental part of the job is gaining access to all accessible areas of all bridges so the candidate will require a reasonable fitness level for day to day duties and the ability to carry survey equipment.

Experience of inputting and retrieving data from electronic record systems/databases using the Highways Asset Management System (HAMS).

Liaison with clients, the bridges design team, and other third parties as requested by the team such as the overseeing of statutory undertakers works in relation to structures

Liaising with Network Rail, Highways England, English Heritage, Canal and Rivers Trust and other structure owners.

Undertake on-site supervision of contractors and/or statutory undertakers, and be able to follow and direct on relevant County work standards.

Assist with the Management of the General Inspection programme.

Support the development of the structure's capital and reactive maintenance programmes.

Support the asset management team in developing plans and policies for maintenance and renewal of highways infrastructure.

Support the management of the correspondence on bridge matters and resolving ownership and other queries.

To undertake ongoing professional development and training as required by the post.

The ability to work to deadlines and to prioritise workloads.

Good organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.

The ability and confidence to work alone on site as and when required following the relevant lone working procedure.

Have experience with and be able to utilise Microsoft Office applications and the Internet.

The ability to drive and the possession of a driving licence.

Requirements:

  • BICS Lantra Bridge Inspector Certification Scheme or ADEPT approved scheme equivalent essential.
  • Experience in assessing structures to CS450 essential.
  • Good time management essential.
  • IT literate, ideally with experience using asset management software and GIS mapping systems.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
