General Duties • Operate general hand tools • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, air brakes, running gear and other locomotive components • Inspect, repair, and install electrical components • Fabricate, cut, shape, and perform finish operations using various types of materials • Perform periodic service on locomotives • Comply with railroad safety and operating rules Job Requirements • 18 years of age or older • High School Diploma or GED • Ability to work from written and verbal instructions • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, adhere to work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules • Valid driver’s license • Must be able to work varying shifts, including weekends and overtime as required • Must be able to occasionally work in varying weather conditions • Must be able to submit to and be able to pass a drug screen • Maintain a good attendance record • Must be able to pass a background check • Must be willing to wear required personal protective equipment Physical Requirements • Must be able to stand and walk on uneven surfaces for extended periods of time • Must be able to carry and lift 30 lbs. frequently and push and pull 75 lbs. frequently • Must be able to carry and lift occasionally 50-90 lbs., push and pull 250 lbs. and grip 100 lbs.
