Caretaker Maintenance Operative

We are currently seeking a dedicated and reliable School Caretaker to join our team and play a key role in delivering high-quality facilities management services within a busy school environment. You'll help ensure the school buildings, grounds and facilities are maintained to a safe, clean and efficient standard, supporting the day-to-day operation of the site.
What you'll do:
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks, including minor repairs to building fabric, fixtures, fittings and equipment, ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
- Complete routine inspections and daily/weekly compliance checks, reporting faults, hazards and maintenance issues promptly while responding to Helpdesk requests within agreed timeframes.
- Maintain tools, equipment and storage areas in a clean, safe and organised condition, ensuring all health, safety, security and statutory procedures are followed at all times.
- Support the wider facilities management team by providing cover when required, attending training, working flexibly to support school events and responding to emergency call-outs where necessary.
What you'll bring:
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Previous experience in a caretaker, maintenance, facilities or building services role, with practical knowledge of building fabric and general repairs.
- Good understanding of health and safety legislation, safe systems of work and compliance requirements within a facilities management environment.
- Ability to use maintenance tools and equipment safely following training, with good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional overtime, out-of-hours work and emergency call-outs to support operational requirements.
