SMX is looking for a highly motivated Systems Administrator with demonstrated experience to maintain various IT systems. This position will provide On-Site support at our customers location on Patuxent River NAS in southern Maryland.
As the Junior Systems Administrator, you will join a team of highly driven, supportive, and skilled professionals engaged in supporting program management, technical, or business cases across the NAVAIR community.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Install, configure, and support an organization’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems, or a segment of a network system
Analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate existing IT systems
Perform maintenance to ensure IT Systems operate correctly with minimal interruption
Optimize the functionality and performance of hardware and software systems
Implement and maintain backup recovery plans and capabilities
Respond to unexpected or unauthorized service interruptions and outages
Diagnose software and hardware failures to resolution
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, cybersecurity requirements, and configuration management processes
Test operating system and software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes
Administer and maintain newly deployed hardware and software assets throughout their lifecycle
Assist users with workstation setup, account provisioning, and access requests
Assist with the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of desktop, server, and peripheral equipment
Maintain system documentation, inventories, and configuration records
Required Skills & Experience
Clearance Required: Top Secret
At least one year of experience in system administration performing the functional duties of this position
CompTIA Security+ or another DoD 8570-compliant certification
Knowledge of system administration principles, theories, and concepts
Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and user account issues
Experience supporting Windows workstations, servers, and peripheral devices
Desired Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
Experience with Linux operating systems
Experience administering IT assets and configuration management processes
Experience supporting end users in an enterprise environment
Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery concepts
Experience in a DoD or NAVAIR environment

The proposed salary for this position is:
$71,600 — $119,400 USD
