RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is for School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS).

  • Design, prototype and maintain magnetic sensing hardware (magnetometer arrays, custom PCBs) and embeddeddata-acquisition pipelines.
  • Develop signal-processing and machine-learning algorithms for magnetic tracking, localization and navigation.
  • Plan and conduct lab and field experiments (incl. robotic platform integration); manage datasets, documentationand code repositories.
  • Lead and contribute to publications at top-tier venues (e.g., ACM MobiCom, SenSys, UbiComp/IMWUT) and togrant deliverables and reports.
  • Assist the PI in mentoring PhD and undergraduate students and in day-to-day lab coordination.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum PhD degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or closely related disciplines; with particular focus on mobile computing, pervasive sensing, or cyber-physical systems.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant research experience in mobile/pervasive sensing systems (inclusive of PhD research).
  • Proficiency in programming software/languages such as Python and C/C++ will be positively considered/ is required.
  • Proven track record and professional experience in mobile and pervasive sensing systems research.
  • Demonstrated experience and know-how on embedded systems, sensor hardware prototyping (PCB design) anddata acquisition.
  • Excellent working knowledge of signal processing and machine-learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch).
  • Technical skills in magnetometer-based tracking/localization and robotic platform integration.
  • Ability to break down complex problems and design effective solutions.
  • Innovating new approaches and thinking outside the box.
  • Applicants with research publications in mobile systems / ubiquitous computing (e.g., ACM MobiCom, SenSys,UbiComp/IMWUT) area will be advantageous.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a small, agile academic research team is essential.
  • Self-motivated individual who can work independently and collaboratively with team members.
