Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform hardware installations of network related equipment (Juniper, Infinera)
• Install and test cabling required for the activation of the RETN services
• Administratively process work orders in the RETN network systems
• Proactively manage H&S issues on a daily basis
• Troubleshoot networking/internet working problems in a methodical and timely approach
• Interface with customers and vendors for technical related activities
• Perform routine checks on preventive maintenance on the gateway related facility systems/M & E Equipment/Fiber optic cables
• Posses the ability to manage operational issues whilst ensuring always meets customer expectations
• In addition to daily installation activities the role will be accountable to: Provide regular progress updates to work flow management systems Complete/Update/Verify design and Network Inventory Systems Carry out site Surveys and Audits Create Permits to Work Contractor and Customer Supervision/Escort
• Technicians will be required to undertake administrative duties, including access control and inventory management on a regular basis to ensure the continued successful operation of the network facility

We require: Education and Experience

• Education Level: University or vocational college
• Field Of Study: Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or related fields
• A combination of education and experience is acceptable: Yes
• Experience working in the Telecommunications / Data Communications field
• The ability to learn quickly and pick up new technologies
• Working knowledge of standard telecommunications wiring practices and associated hardware
• Knowledgeable in installation, testing and turn-up of Digital Cross Connects, SDH, DWDM and IP equipment (Juniper, Infinera)
• Knowledge of co-location facilities would be preferable but not essential
• Must speak German and English to a high standard, Russian would be beneficial
• Driver license
• Attention to detail with good organizational capabilities
• Ability to prioritize with good time management skills
• Good reporting and analytical skills
