The Role

Reed Practice is delighted to be partnering with this successful firm to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper or Payroll Specialist to join their friendly, supportive, and motivated team.

Due to the close collaboration within the department, our client is flexible regarding the successful candidate's background. They are equally keen to speak with experienced Bookkeepers who undertake payroll duties, as well as Payroll professionals who have bookkeeping knowledge and experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
  • Processing financial transactions using software such as Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks.
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns accurately and on time.
  • Completing bank and control account reconciliations.
  • Posting payroll journals and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Liaising directly with clients, responding to queries and requesting relevant information when required.
  • Processing end-to-end payroll for a portfolio of bureau clients.
  • Ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and maintaining high levels of accuracy and client service.

About You

To be successful, you will have:

  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
  • Experience as either a Bookkeeper with payroll responsibilities or a Payroll Specialist with bookkeeping experience.
  • Working knowledge of accounting and payroll software, including Xero, Sage (Accounts and/or Payroll), QuickBooks, Iris, or similar systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • A proactive approach and the confidence to communicate directly with clients.
  • The ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • AAT qualified or currently studying towards AAT qualifications; or
  • Qualified by experience with a proven track record in a similar role.
