Qrypt's mission is to protect the world's data and restore privacy. Qrypt hardens cybersecurity and future-proofs encryption against quantum attacks by eliminating key transmission. Qrypt's unique technology independently generates symmetric keys at multiple endpoints for critical workflows today. We are a passionate team of engineers, physicists, and cryptographers committed to transforming the way the world safeguards data and communications!  Qrypt is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to own the services behind our quantum security products. You will lead the design and development of backend software — primarily in Rust — that moves quantum entropy and keys, powers our entropy-as-a-service platform, and makes our appliances work reliably and securely at scale. You will use AI-assisted development tooling as a core part of how you work, own the correctness and quality of what ships, and help set how the team engineers in an AI-native way.

What you'll do Lead the design, development, and testing of backend services and APIs, primarily in Rust, with some C++ and Python.

Own significant parts of the backend end to end: architecture, implementation, reliability, and performance.

Make and document design tradeoffs; raise the bar on code quality, testing, and review across the team.

Work close to the metal on the software that delivers quantum entropy and keys reliably and securely.

Use AI-assisted and agentic development tooling to accelerate your work while owning the correctness and quality of everything you ship.

Help shape how the team adopts AI-assisted development (instruction conventions, review standards) as the tooling matures.

Develop deep domain understanding (quantum random number generation, cryptography, network security) to architect and validate our products.

Mentor other engineers and collaborate across hardware, product, and engineering to ship end-to-end.

What you'll need Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, and/or relevant work experience.

6+ years building and shipping backend software, including ownership of services end to end.

Expertise in Rust, or deep systems-programming experience (C, C++, Go) with a demonstrated ability to work primarily in Rust at a senior level.

Working proficiency with C++ and Python.

Strong command of backend architecture: APIs, services, concurrency, reliability, performance, and Linux.

Fluency with AI and agent-assisted development, and the judgment to apply it where it adds real leverage — reviewing, correcting, and taking full ownership of AI-generated work. This is core to how we operate at Qrypt and is expected of everyone here.

A track record of technical leadership: design decisions, mentoring, and raising engineering standards.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Must be authorized to work in the United States. Qrypt does not provide visa sponsorship for this role.

Nice to have Nice to have

Experience with cryptography, security, or networking systems.

Experience designing high-reliability, high-assurance, or performance-sensitive services.

Familiarity with Linux systems programming, packaging, and deployment.
