About PSI
PSI is a fast-growing transportation engineering firm with 30+ years delivering award-winning infrastructure work across the DC region and beyond. We've grown from a boutique traffic engineering shop to a 50+ person firm spanning roadway design, transportation planning, software engineering, and construction management — and we're not done. Our team combines cutting-edge technology with a deep commitment to safety and innovation to solve the real operational and design challenges facing our communities' transportation systems.
Position Overview
We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead complex, multi-state roadway and transportation projects from kickoff through construction. You’ll manage high-impact pursuits with DDOT, VDOT, MDOT, and local municipalities, and you’ll play a direct role in shaping how PSI grows its project portfolio.
You’ll be client-facing, technically engaged, and mentoring the next generation of engineers on our team. If you want ownership over your work and a clear path toward executive leadership, this is it.
Responsibilities
Lead roadway design projects end-to-end — scope, budget, schedule, quality, and client satisfaction
Serve as the primary client contact for your projects; build and maintain strong agency relationships
Direct and mentor multidisciplinary project teams including engineers, designers, surveyors, traffic, and environmental specialists
Oversee technical work including geometric design, drainage, erosion and sediment control, pavement marking/signing, and construction staging
Review and provide QC guidance on deliverables from junior engineers and external consultants
Support business development through client relationship management and proposal contributions
Stay current on industry trends, agency standards, and emerging technologies in roadway design
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of roadway design and project management experience
PE licensure in DC, MD, or VA (reciprocal licensure in remaining jurisdictions expected)
Proven track record delivering transportation projects on time and on budget for public-sector clients
Hands-on experience with state DOT's including DDOT, VDOT, MDOT, and/or local municipality projects
Strong communicator — equally comfortable in a client meeting and a design review
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with OpenRoads, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and/or Synchro
Advanced degree or additional certifications in Civil Engineering or related field
Benefits:
Competitive salary commensurate with experience
Discretionary annual merit bonus and annual raise
Up to 4% 401(k) match
Comprehensive benefits package — PSI covers 70% of medical premiums, plus dental, vision, and company-paid life insurance
Hybrid work flexibility (2 days a week)
