Project Accountant

Job Description: Process project-related accounts payable, including vendor invoices, subcontractor payables, site rents, utilities, petty cash, and other project costs.
Maintain accurate project accounting records, billing support, accounts payable files, and other financial documentation.
Liaise with project sites, vendors, subcontractors, Project Managers, and internal departments to resolve payables, billing, coding, and project accounting matters.
Support cost reimbursable projects by reviewing recoverable costs, confirming coding, and maintaining supporting documentation for billing and audit purposes.
Assist with cost reimbursements captured through payroll by reviewing supporting details, allocations, and related project cost information.
Prepare subcontract reconciliations, and final release support as required.
Complete month-end activities, including project accounting reports, accruals, cost reallocations, accounts receivable reconciliations, subcontractor reconciliations, and revenue contract reconciliations.
Collect progress draws, payment certificates, and billing information from Project Managers; provide billing support, including preparing or producing billings for cost reimbursable jobs; post revenue billings, follow up on receivables, and record payments received.
Support project sites by building positive working relationships and assisting site administrators or project personnel with accounting procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support project sites and the Finance department.
Requirements: Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
three to five years years of accounting, project accounting, job costing, accounts payable, or related administrative finance experience is preferred.
Experience in construction is considered an asset.
Working knowledge of job costing, purchase orders, invoice coding, cost tracking, and project billing processes.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and comfort working with accounting systems; experience with Jonas is preferred.
High attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and support timely resolution.

Ability to work effectively with both finance and operations teams.
