Being a Human Resources Specialist at Levitate is a very special and important part of our organization. As our dedicated HR presence supporting our Ontario-based team, you’ll be the trusted point of contact employees and managers turn to for guidance, consistency, and care - ensuring every employee’s experience, from their first day through their last, reflects who we are as a company.
This role will report to our Manager of Employee Relations and should have a strong working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and a steady, solutions-oriented approach to employee relations helping us scale thoughtfully as our Canadian team grows.
A Day in the Life of a Levitate HR Specialist
New hires get processed into our HRIS, BambooHR, with records, documentation, and onboarding tasks completed accurately and on time
You’ll lead orientation for new hires, setting the tone for a welcoming and informative start to their Levitate journey
Work closely with Ontario-based leaders on employee relations matters and ensure they are handled with empathy and sound, consistent judgment
In conjunction with your manager, keep the VP of Talent and relevant leaders apprised of emerging and ongoing employee issues, with you proactively flagging what they need to know before it becomes a surprise
Updates to our employee handbook are informed by your guidance, keeping our policies current with Ontario employment standards and best practices, while providing clear and timely guidance to employees
Departing employees are offboarded with care, ensuring a respectful and compliant exit experience
Managers come to you for guidance on appropriate steps for disciplinary action, up to and including termination, balancing business needs with fairness and legal compliance
Benefits enrollment is managed end-to-end, with you serving as the go-to resource for employee questions about coverage and options
When needed, you lead HR-related trainings for managers and employees
Through your strong organizational skills, you will consistently maintain accurate, up-to-date employee records and documentation across HR systems

Qualifications
3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience supporting an Ontario-based workforce
Working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation (e.g., the Employment Standards Act) and how it applies to day-to-day HR practices
CHRL (Certified Human Resources Leader) designation through HRPA preferred but not required
Experience with an HRIS (BambooHR experience a plus) and comfort managing accurate, detailed records
Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential employee matters
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with employees and managers alike
Ability to self-motivate and succeed in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize work across multiple HR functions

Compensation : Compensation for this position is $70,000 CAD (56,000/14,000 split). Bonus paid quarterly.
