Accountabilities:
As a Staff Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across software development initiatives, contributing to architecture, implementation, quality improvements, and delivery of impactful healthcare technology solutions.
Design, develop, and deliver medium-to-large software features while ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Contribute technical expertise across one or more projects or products, helping teams achieve successful outcomes.
Collaborate with engineering teams, product partners, external teams, and client stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
Develop and maintain software solutions aligned with healthcare interoperability standards, including FHIR-based integrations and data exchange workflows.
Design comprehensive test strategies, including test plans, test cases, automation approaches, and documentation aligned with system requirements.
Establish and promote software quality standards, engineering best practices, and continuous improvement processes.
Build and maintain automated testing processes that improve coverage, speed, and reliability within CI/CD pipelines.
Analyze, document, prioritize, and support resolution of software defects using effective tracking and communication practices.
Implement performance, security, and compliance testing practices to support reliable healthcare systems.
Support infrastructure and deployment practices through cloud technologies, Infrastructure as Code, and automated delivery pipelines.
Reduce technical debt by identifying improvement opportunities and implementing sustainable engineering solutions.
Stay current with emerging technologies, healthcare interoperability standards, and engineering practices to recommend improvements.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer with strong backend and cloud expertise, combined with hands-on knowledge of healthcare data standards and interoperability solutions.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with 8+ years of software development experience.
Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot.
Experience with at least two additional technologies among Go, Python, Angular, or TypeScript.
Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and distributed software systems.
Hands-on experience with cloud environments, preferably AWS.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, preferably Terraform.
Experience building and maintaining fully automated CI/CD pipelines from development through production deployment.
Strong relational database experience, including PostgreSQL.
Experience working with HL7 FHIR standards, including resources, profiles, and implementation guides.
Knowledge of FHIR R4 and healthcare interoperability patterns.
Experience building or integrating APIs aligned with FHIR specifications.
Familiarity with healthcare data formats such as QRDA, C-CDA, and claims data.
Understanding of digital quality measurement concepts, including eCQM and dQM.
Experience with Clinical Quality Language (CQL) or healthcare measure logic execution.
Experience working with FHIR servers such as HAPI FHIR or similar platforms.
Experience designing or consuming FHIR resources including Measure, MeasureReport, Patient, Encounter, and Observation.
Understanding of healthcare data validation, quality requirements, and regulatory reporting constraints.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in remote, cross-functional teams.
Ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearance eligibility.
Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder, with US residency for at least the past three years.
Preferred qualifications:
AWS certifications.
Experience with AWS ECS Fargate, AWS RDS, and AWS S3.
Experience with Jenkins or similar CI/CD tools.
Experience with Databricks or modern data platforms.
Experience supporting large-scale healthcare reporting or analytics systems.
Familiarity with CMS environments, healthcare data pipelines, or regulatory programs.
