Accountabilities: The Principal Software Engineer - System Infrastructure Engineering will provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise to support enterprise infrastructure operations, system reliability, and cybersecurity compliance. The role involves guiding engineering activities, improving automation, and ensuring secure, efficient infrastructure performance.

Lead and support a team of engineers by providing technical direction, prioritization, and daily task coordination aligned with program objectives.

Maintain and improve Agile development and operational workflows to support efficient engineering execution.

Install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers and workstations across multiple versions.

Manage Windows Server and workstation environments, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Administer and support VMware vSphere environments, including VCSA and ESXi infrastructure.

Develop automation solutions using scripting and configuration management tools such as PowerShell, Python, and Ansible.

Implement and maintain cybersecurity compliance processes using security frameworks, scanning tools, and remediation solutions.

Support configuration management activities and maintain accurate engineering documentation through lifecycle management tools.

Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to identify issues, implement improvements, and maintain system performance.

Travel approximately 25% of the time to support business and technical requirements.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in infrastructure engineering, system administration, automation, and secure enterprise environments. Strong technical knowledge, leadership capabilities, and experience supporting classified or regulated systems are essential.

Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience, or a PhD in a related STEM discipline.

Minimum of 4 years of experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6/7/8 servers and workstations.

Minimum of 4 years of experience managing Windows-based servers and workstation environments.

Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure administration, troubleshooting, and system optimization.

Experience with VMware infrastructure, including vSphere, VCSA, and ESXi environments.

Experience with automation tools and scripting languages such as Ansible, PowerShell, or Python.

Knowledge of cybersecurity compliance frameworks, vulnerability remediation, and security configuration standards.

Ability to meet Department of Defense Information Assurance Technical (DoD IAT) requirements for classified system administration, including relevant certifications or progress toward certification.

Active Secret clearance or higher is required.

Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred experience with VMware, Windows, or Red Hat certifications, including MCSE, VMware certifications, or Red Hat Satellite Administration.

Ability to travel internationally when required; a valid U.S. passport is preferred.
