Principal Software Developer (Forma Data, File+)

Accountabilities Act as a technical leader throughout the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and design to implementation, deployment, and operations.

Contribute to the evolution of cloud platforms and services, designing scalable, secure, and reliable solutions for complex data management needs.

Design, develop, and maintain SaaS products using modern web technologies and cloud-native engineering practices.

Solve complex technical challenges related to scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.

Collaborate with software engineers, product teams, industry specialists, and global stakeholders to deliver high-quality cloud services.

Drive architectural improvements and contribute to technical strategy for next-generation platform capabilities.

Build and optimize services that integrate with widely used design and construction software ecosystems.

Promote engineering excellence through high-quality code standards, automation, documentation, and best practices.

Mentor and coach developers, sharing technical expertise and supporting team growth.

Participate in improving development processes, DevOps practices, and operational reliability.

Support the delivery of innovative solutions that enable customers to adopt modern cloud-based workflows.

Requirements

8+ years of professional software development experience, preferably with SaaS products or cloud-based platforms.

Proven experience designing, building, and operating scalable, reliable, and secure cloud services.

Strong software design and coding skills with a focus on performance, quality, and long-term maintainability.

Proficiency in web-based technologies and programming languages such as Java, Go, GraphQL, or similar technologies.

Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices and enterprise-level engineering processes.

Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or equivalent cloud environments.

Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud operations at scale.

Experience designing and working with distributed database technologies.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence technical decisions and work effectively with diverse global teams.

Experience leading technical initiatives and acting as a technical mentor for other engineers.

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Experience with big data analytics, event-driven architectures, or large-scale data processing systems is an asset.

Familiarity with BPMN or RPA tools such as Camunda, Power Automate, or AWS Step Functions is a plus.

Knowledge of Linux/CentOS environments is beneficial.

Competitive compensation package with a base salary range of $131,000 to $191,400 CAD annually , depending on experience and location.
