Accountabilities: As a Data Engineer III, you will take ownership of designing, maintaining, and improving scalable data infrastructure while supporting engineering teams with reliable and efficient solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

Designing, building, and maintaining highly available PostgreSQL databases and supporting data infrastructure.

Leading complex data engineering initiatives from architecture and implementation through deployment and long-term operational support.

Developing efficient relational data models to support applications, integrations, reporting, and future business needs.

Optimizing database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, partitioning, and configuration improvements.

Troubleshooting complex production issues involving databases, replication, storage, infrastructure, and application performance.

Building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration solutions that enable reliable data movement across systems.

Developing cloud-based data solutions using AWS services such as RDS, Lambda, S3, EventBridge, IAM, and CloudWatch.

Improving platform reliability through monitoring, alerting, automation, backup strategies, disaster recovery, and operational tooling.

Acting as a subject matter expert for database technologies and guiding engineering teams on data architecture best practices.

Reviewing database changes, migrations, and application designs to ensure scalability, security, and maintainability.

Mentoring junior data engineers through technical coaching, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.

Communicating technical decisions through documentation, architecture discussions, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced data engineering professional with strong database expertise, cloud knowledge, and the ability to solve complex technical challenges independently. Required qualifications include:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

4–7 years of experience in Data Engineering, Database Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field with significant database responsibilities.

Advanced expertise with PostgreSQL, including performance optimization, schema design, indexing, query tuning, and database administration.

Strong understanding of relational database concepts, normalization, data modeling, and scalable database architecture.

Experience designing and supporting highly available, fault-tolerant production database environments.

Proven experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration solutions.

Strong SQL skills and experience with at least one programming language such as Python, C#, Go, or similar.

Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services including RDS, Lambda, S3, EventBridge, IAM, and CloudWatch.

Understanding of ORM technologies and how application architecture impacts database performance.

Ability to debug complex issues across applications, databases, and cloud infrastructure.

Strong knowledge of software architecture principles and scalable data platform design.

Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and make sound technical decisions with limited supervision.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.

Consistent access to reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated workspace suitable for remote work.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

Experience with data warehousing platforms and modern analytical data environments.

Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or dbt.

Experience with event-driven architectures, streaming technologies, or messaging platforms such as Kafka or Debezium.

Experience supporting AI, machine learning, or large language model workloads through scalable data infrastructure.

Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and data cataloging practices.

Experience optimizing AWS/RDS costs.

Background working in financial technology or other regulated industries.

Experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives or acting as a technical lead.
