Accountabilities:
As a Communications Specialist, you will lead media engagement efforts and develop communication strategies that increase visibility, strengthen relationships, and support impactful campaigns.
Build and maintain relationships with French-language and English-speaking journalists across Canadian media outlets, particularly within francophone and targeted audience ecosystems.
Develop and execute bilingual media strategies, including identifying opportunities, pitching stories, and supporting campaign visibility.
Manage communications initiatives for campaigns by identifying strong narratives, preparing media materials, and positioning campaign participants for media opportunities.
Produce high-quality bilingual press releases, media advisories, journalist pitches, and other communications assets following professional media standards.
Serve as the primary point of contact for French-language media inquiries and ensure timely, effective responses.
Develop outreach strategies for specific audience segments by understanding media landscapes, influencers, and community voices.
Build and maintain databases of journalists, influencers, campaign participants, and potential partners to support future communications efforts.
Use AI tools strategically to improve research, content creation, personalization, and communications workflows.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate is an experienced communications professional with strong media relations expertise, bilingual capabilities, and the ability to craft compelling stories for diverse audiences.
5+ years of experience in communications, journalism, public relations, advocacy communications, or related fields.
Professional fluency in both French and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
Demonstrated experience developing media strategies, pitching stories, and securing earned media coverage.
Strong understanding of Canadian media ecosystems, particularly French-language outlets and targeted audience segments.
Ability to identify strong storytelling angles, develop compelling narratives, and connect campaigns with relevant audiences.
Experience managing journalist relationships and preparing individuals for interviews and public-facing opportunities.
Familiarity with conservative or centre-right media environments and audience perspectives is preferred.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and communications initiatives.
Comfortable using AI-powered tools to improve research, drafting, and outreach processes.
