Client Engagement Manager (Medical Communications)
Accountabilities: The Client Engagement Manager will lead the successful execution of medical communications programs while maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring alignment with strategic goals, timelines, budgets, and compliance requirements.
Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned clients, providing proactive communication, guidance, and high-quality service.
Manage medical communications projects from initiation through completion, ensuring deliverables meet agreed scope, timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Lead client meetings by preparing agendas, progress updates, action items, and follow-up communications.
Collaborate with creative, editorial, digital, and project teams to coordinate execution and resolve challenges.
Review project deliverables to ensure alignment with client objectives, feedback, regulatory standards, and quality expectations.
Manage project financials, including budget tracking, invoicing, reconciliations, forecasting, and identification of scope changes.
Support development of proposals, statements of work, and change orders when required.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations, client procedures, and medical/legal/regulatory review processes.
Support submission workflows through relevant review platforms and documentation systems.
Participate in client meetings, advisory boards, congress activities, and speaker programs as needed.
Coach and support junior team members through guidance, feedback, and workload coordination.
Identify opportunities for account growth and contribute to business development initiatives.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate brings experience in medical communications, healthcare marketing, or related fields, along with strong client management and project leadership capabilities.
Bachelor’s degree required in Communications, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related discipline; advanced degree is a plus.
4–6+ years of experience in medical communications, medical education, pharmaceutical marketing, or a related industry.
Strong understanding of life sciences, therapeutic areas, and the drug development landscape.
Proven experience managing client relationships and delivering complex projects in a deadline-driven environment.
Strong financial skills, including budget management, forecasting, statement of work development, and profitability tracking.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Exceptional attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy, quality, and compliance.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build trusted partnerships.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools.
Familiarity with medical review and submission platforms such as Veeva PromoMats is preferred.
