Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist

Our client is a leading OEM supplier of products and services for medical devices and procedures.

Education/Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in EHS in a manufacturing environment.
• BS degree in engineering, safety, science or other EHS related field.

Specialized knowledge needed for performance of job :

Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations including safety, emergency response, hazardous materials transportation, air permitting, water permitting, ergonomics, and worker’s compensation.

Training and certifications preferred:

• First Aid, CPR & AED, RCRA, DOT, IATA, and Hazwopper

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE

• Serve as expert on EHS matters related to associate safety, environmental protection, property protection, and process and equipment safety in a manufacturing environment.
• Works with the EHS Center of Excellence to implement the site specific EHS strategy and initiate policies, programs, and initiatives to ensure EHS compliance and achieve EHS goals
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of new laws, regulations, and industry standards
• Lead efforts, projects and cross-functional EHS teams in the direction of a continuously improving work environment that is safe and environmentally friendly
• Ensure required records, permits, and reports are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines by local, state, and federal agencies
• Train new and existing associates on company policies, procedures and regulations as required by regulations and best practices
• Identify hazardous workplace conditions, perform and document job hazard analysis, and coordinate activities to ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented
• Respond to day-to-day associate concerns in an appropriate and timely manner
• Manages the investigation and assessment of work-related injuries, illnesses, and near-misses. Monitors Medical Incident Notifications (MIN) at the facility, works with Human Resources on workers compensation and return to work programs
• Review, measure, audit, and report on efforts in attaining compliance with EHS laws, regulations, company policies, and best practices to all levels of the organization
• Perform internal audits and inspections of facility and operations.
• Lead and train Emergency Response Team to be proficient in areas necessary at the facility which may include hazmat, incipient fire, medical, and other potential emergencies
• Safety liaison for government agencies, emergency responders, and customers
• Coordinate removal of hazardous materials and waste
