Position Overview:

As a member of the Facilities team, the Facilities & Services Specialist is responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, building repairs, installations, and inspections of facilities to ensure operations run smoothly. In addition, this position will be responsible for leading safety initiatives and applying best practices for keeping the work environment and building systems maintenance up to date, proactively addressing problems as they arise, assessing and scheduling both repair and preventative maintenance in an office, warehouse and test lab environment. This role also manages the building’s food services operations.

Essential Job Functions:

Maintenance and building operation management

Operate and perform routine service, cleaning and repairs on building plumbing and HVAC equipment and related systems; troubleshooting issues that may require further help from outside vendors and technicians.

Responsible for all facilities related activities; which includes maintenance, housekeeping (internal/external), overseeing housekeeping contractors, providing annual walk-throughs with city officials (i.e. Fire Marshall) as required, procuring vendor bids for approved building/facilities related initiatives (i.e. floor layouts, cubicle redesign, etc)

Supervise work completed by outside vendors and building technicians

Document work and work requests utilizing the facilities help desk system through our Jira ticketing system

Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure efficient building systems

Conduct inventory checks to maintain workspace readiness for new employees.

Assist team members with assembly, moving and set up of work station equipment such as cubicles, chairs, desks, shelving, white board / cork board installation, test benches and lighting

Safety and Compliance

Act as a safety advocate and assist with the installation and upkeep of safety equipment and proper safety signage for the office, warehouse, test lab and assembly line environments

Work on short- and long-term projects individually or as a team member as directed

Ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards as it relates to the facilities

Take necessary actions to ensure facilities equipment and/or environment is safe according to Company, local, state and federal codes, regulations and governing policies

Responsible for providing and/or coordinating some aspects of the health & safety training

Responsible for overseeing maintenance/facilities work conducted by external vendors

Perform daily walk-through of all production areas identifying and correcting environmental and safety deficiencies

Oversee and maintain all company vehicles including forklifts to ensure they are serviced and operating safely at all times

Food Service Management

Supervise, direct, plan, and schedule the Company’s food service programs and resources, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective experiences for the workforce

Ensure the Company’s food service operation is sanitary and safe in accordance with all applicable health regulations, including guidelines to prevent food-borne illnesses

Prepare and monitor food service within budget limits

General Office Management

Ensure all deliveries to the Company are efficiently collected and delivered to appropriate departments

Maintain office supply inventory levels, ensuring the office is stocked and orderly; and within budget limits

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements :

Associates degree or vocational certificate in Building Systems Maintenance or relevant experience

5 - 7 years direct experience in working with facilities maintenance or building systems maintenance

Excellent customer service attitude and follow through on open tickets

Ability to interface with all levels of management and employees in a professional manner

Obtain a Food Service Manager certification and other requirements as needed to comply with applicable food service regulations

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics :

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Excellent problem-solving skills

Skilled with the use of power tools, shop equipment such as drill presses, electric saws, etc.

Ability to troubleshoot mechanical/electrical malfunctions with limited documentation

Ability to clearly communicate and document equipment records

Demonstrated ability to implement safety training requirements

Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines

Things that make a difference

Proficient in Google Workspace and/or Word and Excel

Knowledge of painting, welding and machining practices

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Employees are exposed to the typical office environment with computers, printers and telephones.

Salary Range:

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in San Diego, California is $25.63/hr. to $33.17/hr. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Brain Corp is a multi-state employer and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
