Education:

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience.

Tasks:

  • Operate and set up machines to perform repetitive machining operations.
  • Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Enter codes specifying speed, feed and cut of the toolpath for computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools.
  • Clean and maintain work space.
  • Direct quality control inspections.
  • Read blueprints, written specifications and production drawings.
  • Consult with production supervisor to schedule production runs in a cost and time-efficient manner.
  • Set up machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders.

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses :

Machinist Trade Certification.

Equipment and machinery experience:

  • Milling machines.
  • Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines.

  • Turning.
