About the company

Being part of the development of new nuclear power in Sweden is a unique opportunity – and a central part of the future sustainable energy supply. Videberg Kraft is a project company with the mission to develop, construct, and operate Sweden’s future nuclear power.

Joining us means being part of building a company from the ground up, with processes, systems and ways of working shaped in parallel with the project itself. Here, progress depends on people who can move forward with confidence, even when not every answer is known, take full responsibility, and look beyond their own role to help the wider project succeed.

Your tasks

We are now looking for a Project Director, Engineering, to lead Videberg Kraft’s Engineering function and play a central role in the successful delivery of the project.

As Project Director, Engineering, you will report directly to the CEO and have overall responsibility for the Engineering function. As a key member of the leadership team, you will bring an engineering perspective to strategic discussions and decisions throughout the project.

A central part of your role will be to strengthen Videberg Kraft’s capability as an informed and demanding owner. You will help ensure that the organisation has the technical competence, judgement and authority required to challenge, review and assure the work delivered by technology providers, engineering partners and suppliers.

  • Lead and develop Videberg Kraft's owner-side engineering organisation and establish the capabilities required to deliver a safe, licensable, constructible and operable nuclear power plant.
  • Define the engineering strategy, governance model and technical assurance framework required to achieve the project’s objectives.
  • Maintain ownership of the overall technical baseline and ensure effective management of requirements, interfaces, design maturity, configuration and change.
  • Ensure effective integration between engineering, licensing, procurement, construction, commissioning and future operations.
  • Represent Videberg Kraft in its engineering engagement with Rolls-Royce SMR and other key suppliers, reviewing and challenging technical solutions and overseeing delivery performance.
  • Ensure engineering readiness for key regulatory, commercial and project milestones and support informed decision-making at executive and board level.
  • Lead the identification and management of technical risks, opportunities and dependencies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Build a collaborative, high-performing engineering function and contribute actively to the continued development of Videberg Kraft's leadership team, culture and long-term organisational capability.

Requirements

  • A university degree in engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
  • Extensive senior leadership experience with responsibility for engineering in large, complex capital projects, preferably within nuclear power or other highly regulated, safety-critical industries.
  • Proven success leading multidisciplinary engineering work through development, design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases, with responsibility for scope, budget, schedule, quality, risk and supplier performance.
  • Experience establishing and scaling engineering organisations, governance models, assurance frameworks and delivery processes.
  • Strong understanding of owner-side project delivery, including systems engineering, requirements management, design and configuration management, interface management and technical assurance.
  • Sound knowledge of nuclear safety, licensing processes, quality assurance and the requirements associated with operating in a highly regulated environment.
  • Experience managing technology providers, engineering partners, major suppliers and contractors across complex contractual and international interfaces.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen, including procurement strategy, contract management, forecasting and management of technical scope and change.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical matters and influence decision-making at executive, board, owner and regulatory levels.
  • Professional fluency in English. Swedish language skills are advantageous.
  • A respected leader with the ability to build trust, alignment and followership in a highly complex stakeholder environment.
  • You combine strong strategic and systems thinking with the technical depth needed to challenge and guide critical engineering decisions.
  • You demonstrate sound judgement and the confidence to make well-informed decisions under uncertainty while maintaining a strong safety and risk mindset.
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with technical, commercial, executive and regulatory stakeholders.
  • A resilient, pragmatic and delivery-focused leadership style, with the ability to drive progress through complexity, ambiguity and change.
  • You have demonstrated ability to attract, develop and inspire technical specialists while fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
  • You have high personal credibility and integrity, with the courage to challenge constructively and influence outcomes.

What we offer

  • A unique opportunity to help shape one of Sweden’s most significant infrastructure projects.
  • The mandate and scope to build an engineering organisation from the ground up and influence how Videberg Kraft works from an early stage.
  • A central role in a highly experienced leadership team, with close involvement in strategic decisions throughout the project.
  • A rare professional challenge combining engineering, nuclear safety, regulatory requirements and commercial decision-making.
