SOLAR DESIGN ENGINEER

Key Responsibilities

Conduct site assessments, including solar irradiance studies, shading analysis, structural evaluations, and electrical assessments. Design efficient and cost-effective solar PV systems using industry-standard design and simulation software. Prepare detailed technical and commercial proposals based on client requirements. Develop engineering drawings, layouts, single-line diagrams, and system documentation. Perform system performance analysis, energy yield calculations, and financial optimization. Design Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and hybrid solar solutions. Work closely with sales, procurement, project management, and installation teams throughout project execution. Provide technical support during design, installation, commissioning, and post-installation phases. Ensure compliance with EPRA regulations, Kenyan standards, and international engineering best practices. Participate in client meetings, technical presentations, and site inspections.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 5 years' experience in solar PV system design and engineering. Proficiency in AutoCAD and solar design software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, PVCase, or PV*SOL . Strong understanding of solar PV systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), electrical design principles, and system optimization. Knowledge of EPRA regulations, IEC/IEEE standards, and Kenyan electrical and building codes. Valid EPRA T3 License is mandatory. Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya is an added advantage. Valid driving licence will be an added advantage. Excellent analytical, communication, and project coordination skills. Willingness to travel to project sites across the country.
