Maintenance Worker

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Child Development Center. Department of the Air Force Child and Youth Programs Employee Child Care Discount applicable to this position (see Additional Information). Must be 18+ years of age.

Major duties

Requires a general knowledge of carpentry, minor electrical work , plumbing, painting, and related trades. Repair surfaces by such methods as sanding, scraping, or wire brushing for application of coating materials such as painting, staining, varnishing, or shellacking on furniture, dry walls, ceilings, trims, etc. cutting and installing carpet. Repairs and performs preventative maintenance on small equipment and appliances to include hand tools, vacuums, installs hardware to repair preventative maintenance on small equipment and appliances to include hand tools, vacuums, installs hardware to repair or replace washers and tightening of screws on fittings or faucets. Perform plumbing functions such as clearing stopped or sluggish drains, replace washers and tighten screws on fittings or faucets. Remove and replace minor electrical items such as wall switch covers, etc. Notify management of any work orders needed to be submitted to Civil Engineering. Load, unload, or relocate heavy and bulky items from trucks, conveyances, carry and assemble or reassemble items. Use heavy power equipment, movers, etc. Adjust, clean, oil and perform maintenance. Cut and trim trees and shrubs. Operates a variety of vehicles including trucks, sedans, and crew cab pickup trucks that weigh up to 10,000 lbs. Operates snow blowers for snow removal around the facility and designated areas. Complete records and accident reports. Identifies to supervisor large costs/quantity items needed to perform work. Qualifying Experience: Must have general working knowledge of all aspects of building maintenance to include basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical and related trades. Must have working knowledge for repair and maintenance of equipment, to include power mowers, snow blowers, vacuum cleaners and floor shampooers. Must be able to be to frequently handle objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must be at least 18 years of age. Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
