Backend Engineer

JOB SUMMARY :

We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain the server-side services and APIs that power our product platform. You will play a key role in ensuring the performance, security, and scalability of our core systems while collaborating closely with frontend, mobile, DevOps, and QA teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs and backend services
• Write clean, efficient, well-tested, and maintainable code following best practices
• Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and indexing strategies for performance at scale
• Integrate third-party services, payment gateways, and internal microservices
• Implement caching, queuing, and asynchronous processing to improve system throughput
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and technical design/architecture discussions
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues in collaboration with DevOps and Support
• Implement and maintain automated tests (unit, integration) to safeguard code quality
• Ensure adherence to security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and data protection
• Document APIs, services, and system architecture for internal and cross-team reference

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS :

• 5+ years of backend development experience (e.g. Node.js, Java, Python, or .NET)
• Strong understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
• Experience with microservices architecture and API design principles
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines
• Good understanding of security, caching, and performance optimization practices
• Experience with message queues/event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS) is a plus
• Working knowledge of version control (Git) and code review workflows
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Exposure to Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code tools
• Familiarity with GraphQL and API gateway patterns
• Prior experience in a high-traffic, production-grade environment
